COVID-19 UPDATE:
MESSAGE TO OUR CUSTOMERS

The Lakes Gas management team has implemented a plan for continuity of operations and contingency preparation during the health emergency declared by the state and federal governments.

Our overriding concern is for the health and safety of our employees, customers and communities. We also want to ensure a continued supply of propane to our customers.

Our branch locations will be manned but will not be accepting walk-in traffic at this time. If you need to make a payment, we encourage you to pay by credit card instead of check or cash when possible. If you need to pay by check or cash, a drop box is located at most of our branches, and there will be a sign at the office directing you. You may leave payment at your delivery location according to your normal practice; please contact your branch to inform them that you did so. You may also pay online at www.lakesgas.com.

Our local offices will be accepting telephone calls, although we may experience higher-than-normal call volume. You may also email your local branch at the address shown on our website.

Lakes Gas has secured more propane to ensure continued availability to you. We do not anticipate product shortages or interruptions in your supply.

We appreciate your business. Thank you for following these policies during this unusual time. We will keep you updated on our website at www.lakesgas.com.

With more and more people enjoying the benefits of propane, Lakes Gas offers retailers an opportunity to increase revenue through our Retailer Programs.

To begin the Lakes Gas new customer process, please contact our Sales Department, as they will be familiar with the local codes for your area.

Propane Cylinder Exchange and Refill

ONLY trained and certified employees should attempt to refill their own propane tanks.

Propane Cylinder Exchange
Retailer: Swap and Go - Commercial and residential customers bring their empty 20# BBQ cylinders to your business, where they can exchange them with full cylinders from the cabinet at your location.

Commercial: Quick and convenient, Lakes Gas offers the easy Swap and Go for our commercial customers, on 33 lb. forklift cylinders or 100 lb. cylinders used for temporary heat on construction sites. Simply remove your tank and bring it into one of our locations and swap with a full tank.

Propane Refill
Customers will bring their empty propane cylinders to your business, and one of your trained and certified employees will refill it from your Lakes Gas on-site dispenser. You can find Lakes Gas propane dispensers at many gas stations and convenience stores located throughout Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan.

Propane Dispensers
We partner with retailers to offer on-site propane cylinder filling. We can provide you with the majority of the equipment including:

  • Frame-mounted tank - Often referred to as a dispenser, a frame-mounted bulk-fill propane tank has a dispensing control unit attached to it and is usually located at convenience stores and gas stations. These systems fill smaller customer cylinders such as those used for barbecues and R.V. units. Lakes Gas provides and fills these dispensers and trains gas station/convenience store personnel on how to fill D.O.T. approved propane cylinders.
  • Pump - Associated with dispensers, the pump is connected to the frame-mounted tank and enables the filling of the portable cylinders.
  • Dispensing unit with meter and dispensing hoses - Also associated with the dispensers, the meter, nozzle and hose allow a regulated amount of propane to be pumped into the portable cylinder.
  • Local and state permits - Dispensing propane is highly regulated by local and state authorities. When opening commercial dispensing, filling or swapping accounts, Lakes Gas ensures that all local and state permits are acquired and available at both the place of business and in the client folder at that servicing branch.
