How To Get More Predictable Propane Bills

Most of us welcome predictability wherever we can get it these days. That’s why we recommend taking advantage of one of our two payment programs, which are designed to make paying for your propane deliveries more manageable and less stressful in 2021/22.
Here are the basics on two great ways to simplify your bill paying – and perhaps save some money along the way.
Option 1: Pre-Buy With a Locked-in Price
Last winter, our Pre-Buy customers saved significantly when prices rose over the course of the year. This year, our Pre-buy Program began July 15. Here’s how it works:
- We’ll recommend the number of gallons you’ll need for the upcoming heating season based on your past use and the size of your home and heating system.
- You can then either submit payment in full or opt to pay in three installments.
- If you are a returning Lakes Pre-Buy customer, the best way to enroll is to submit your request online; this ensures you will get the best price.
- If you can’t or don’t want to enroll online and you are a returning Pre-Buy customer, you will receive a new contract in the mail. If you did not enroll in Pre-Buy last year but want to enroll this year, contact us – we’ll send you a contract.
- An installment plan is available at a slightly higher price. Contact your local branch for details.
Option 2: Budget Program With a Free Price Cap
Our Budget Program divides your estimated annual propane costs into 11 equal payment periods, due on the 10th of each month. The propane price represents the current discounted retail market price at the time of delivery.
Although your price is subject to move up or down with the market, we put a cap (ceiling) on your price at no extra charge. Budget Program customers saved when propane prices rose last winter because their price was capped at a lower price.
- If you were on this program last year, do nothing – you are automatically renewed for this year.
- If you have a balance due, you will get a bill; if you have a credit, we will apply it to this year’s program.
