When your kids are late coming home from school, you probably wish you could know exactly where the bus is right at that moment.
What if you could know that, and what if propane made it possible?
For one Minnesota School District, switching to a propane-fueled fleet saved them enough money to make it happen.
According to a case study by the Alternative Fuels Data Center, Eastern Carver County School District in Chaska, Minnesota saved more than $170,000 during the 2013-2014 school year by making the switch. They then used that savings for wireless internet in the fleet, so that parents can track the buses in real time.
In addition to cost-savings, the switch had other benefits, including:
- Reduced maintenance costs
- Increased horsepower
- Buses warm up faster
