Shocking Spike in Propane Prices

Written on: March 16, 2022

If you’re surprised by how fast prices have risen, you’re not alone. We’re surprised too.
The invasion of Ukraine has shocked energy markets, sending the cost of propane and other petroleum products toward record highs. We’ve already seen this at the pumps when we fuel vehicles, including our delivery trucks. Since the beginning of this year, our suppliers have increased the price of propane by over 50 cents per gallon, and since prices have risen so fast that number might be out of date by the time you read this.   Some people are under the misconception that when prices rise, we make more money. We actually make less.

What’s Coming Next?

We don’t know where prices will go from here but we will keep you informed as the situation develops.

One thing you can count on is that we have a reliable supply of propane. Lakes Gas has been in business for many years and we’ve created strong relationships with our suppliers. Customers of other propane companies have called us because they are having difficulty scheduling deliveries. You don’t have to worry about that with us, we have over 100 storage facilities located in the upper Midwest and we’re ready to deliver to you.
If you are having trouble paying your bill, talk to us before it becomes a problem. Many times, we can work out something to give you more time, especially if you’ve been with us a while. We can also set you up on a monthly payment plan.
Nothing will make us happier than when prices start dropping. Until then, trust us to look out for you, and let’s keep all the people of Eastern Europe in our thoughts and pray for peace.
